::MBNY Fashion Week::
Next on my NYFW schedule was Hassan Pierre’s Way It Should Be (WISB) Spring 2012 fashion show at The New Museum on September 9, 2011. Haitian designer Hassan Pierre created a line of eco-friendly and organic wares suitable for a weekend trip to the Hamptoms. From sailor stripped separates to chic white dresses suitable to replace the little black dress for spring. Some of the dresses invoked a retro Kennedy look with a modern twist.

Hassan’s designs have been featured in Vogue, BET’s Rip the Runway, and on a host of celebrities. The WISB line is produced in Port-au-Prince, giving jobs to local seamstresses. The line is so sustainable, that every piece of a garment is either organic, recycled, or made from plants (the hang tags are made from seeded paper which you can actually plant).
