I had an opportunity to join the the EF creative team for their Eco Preview and learned a lot more about their holistic approach to this collection. Sustainability leader Shonah took me through the selection of fabrics from organic cotton, tinsel, recycled fabrics, hemp, and silk. By working closely with Bluesign and their standards, the production of the line considers all inputs, processes and technologies at their source. Every step of production is analyzed and seeks to maintain the utmost quality and minimize use of resources and impact on the environment.
By partnering with the likes of the American Sustainable Business Council and Businesses for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy, Eileen Fisher also seeks to implement change through advocating for green policies.
Organic Hemp Twist Dress in Bayberry
Green Eileen, a recycled clothing initiative, launched in November 2011. Donated Eileen Fisher garments are dry cleaned and prepared for resale as part of the Eileen Fisher Community Foundation’s initiative to support programs for women and girls. The recycled clothing can be purchased at The Lab Store in Irvington, NY; the Eileen Fisher Company Store in Woodbury Centre, NY; GREEN EILEEN in Yonkers, NY. Donations are accepted at all the above locations plus the Eileen Fisher location 166 Fifth Ave, NYC. Donators receive a tax receipt and a $5 dollar gift card to use towards new purchase at Eileen Fisher retail stores.
