In my post Top 10 Resolutions to Green 2012 , one of the goals listed getting reusable straw and GlassDharma made it happen.
My first impression: these things are durable. I’m a clumsy gal at times and even when I dropped my decorated straw, it survived.
They are light weight, affordable, and would make great gifts for anyone. As a rule of thumb, I keep one in my purse at all times.
What makes glass straws so eco-friendly are:
1. They don’t leach toxins in your drink or food
2. The new paper straws start to fall apart quickly.
3. You contribute less waste to your local landfill. Think how many less straws you will use in your lifetime.
4. They are pretty and a sustainable conversation starter.
They come many different shapes and sizes as you can see from the picture above. Click here to see all their options.
I’ve used my straw for both hot and cold drinks and plan on making a little case for it with recycled fabrics, which of course I will post.
The straws are made from borosilicate glass, one of strongest commercial grades. The same glass is used to make Pyrex. GlassDharma also offers a lifetime guarantee so if you straw breaks, they will repair or replace.
I am so glad I made the switch and would encourage you to do so as well. For this GlassDharma has easily earned the Eco-chic Approval.
Disclosure: Complimentary straws were courtesy of GlassDharma. I received no other compensation and no requirements that I express a particular point of view.
