NYC, Come Get Your Summer Streets!

“On August 4, 11 and 18 from 7 am to 1 pm, nearly seven miles of NYC’s streets will be opened up for everyone to play, run, walk and bike. From the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park.” This Saturday, August 18th, is the last day for you to experience all the joys of Summer Streets. There are several pit stops along the route that everyone is sure to enjoy.

Don’t have a bike? No worries! There are several stops where free bike rentals are available. People are biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, jogging, and good old-fashioned walking!

All the pit stops feature free activities and goodies. At Foley Square, which is Duane Street and Centre Street, there will be a zip line! Soho Rest Stop is REI wall climbing. Astor Place Rest Stop are fitness classes with Crunch.

The midtown rest stop is the Whole Foods Market City Picnic featuring products like Go Go Squeeze, Honest Tea, and Odwalla.

And last but not least is the Uptown rest stop on 51st and Park with free helmets! And of course stop by to see my favorite, happy place, Duane Reade! This year they are featuring the new Electric trucks with Mission Electric and when you get a quick tour of the truck, you get a free goodie bag.

And don’t forget, New Yorkers can vote for which Duane Reade locations should receive these new trucks. Anyone who votes also receives a chance to win Duane Reade green gift cards and gift prizes. There are only 16 days left to vote, so make sure you get your vote in!

For a list of all the activities, visit the Summer Streets.
I will be out there on bright and early on my bike with my sister and friends getting my zip line on, some come down, enjoy the car free streets and free eats! If you are willing to get up bright and early, meet us at Foley Square at 10am.
