5 Ways to Save on Healthy Eats and Groceries

The notion that healthy, clean eating is expensive is just that… a notion. We all hit financial rough patches but don’t sacrifice your health or your wallet during those obstacles. Here 5 simple ways for you to save on all your favorite natural and organic products.

Join a food cooperative

You can typically save 20% or more on natural/organic foods, especially produce. A good example is the 4th Street Food Coop. You don’t have to be a member to shop there but if you become a member you can save anywhere from 8-25% every time you shop. Right now, organic avocados are only $1.11. That is cheaper than conventional avocados on the market.

Buy in Bulk

You can save up to 30% since you’re not paying for packaging and can get as little or as much as you need. To reduce waste, bring your own produce bags.

Contact Companies for Coupons

If it is a product your curious about (or your a loyal fan), call their customer care, let them know you’d like to try out there product and ask if they have any coupons available. They will happily share. And if you’re lucky, they may even send you a coupon for a free product.

Buy a case of on sale products at Whole Foods

If it is a product you use often to justify buying a case, like sparkling mineral water etc, buy the case. You save an additional 10% off per case on top of the sale price. A recent example: Whole Foods had mangos 10 for $5 which is an absolute steal. I told my neighbor and she asked if I could get it for her since. I purchased a case of mangos (16 in a case) and the price reduced to $7.20

Shop Your Local Markets

Large supermarkets like Shoprite and Shop and Stop have an increasing selection of natural and organics foods and produce. Always check their sales via online circulars and apps. Shoprite recently has a sale on organic avocados; 4 for $5. And organic cabbage was .59 cents per pound. You just have to willing to shop around. Even stores like Duane Reade/Walgreens are increasing their stock and creating private labels such as the delish organic lollipops.
