Did you know there are over 10,000 fair trade products in the US? This number is growing every day and I wanted to highlight some of the products that fit the be fair bill.
Here is a definition from the Fair Trade Organization:
Fair Trade goods are just that. Fair. From far-away farms to your shopping cart, products that bear our logo come from farmers and workers who are justly compensated. We help farmers in developing countries build sustainable businesses that positively influence their communities. We’re a nonprofit, but we don’t do charity. Instead, we teach disadvantaged communities how to use the free market to their advantage. With Fair Trade USA, the money you spend on day-to-day goods can improve an entire community’s day-to-day lives.
Klout sent out a great #BeKind box of fair trade products, with most being new to me. In the above image, we have:
Prana Handbags makes an assortment of organic cotton and hemp hand bags available online with various sizes and price range.
LakeChamplain chai hot chocolate… We will have a date soon with a cold night and a movie. This combines two of my fav winter drinks – chai and hot chocolate and sounds like a world of amazing in a cup.
Love Traditional Medicinals teas and looking forward sipping on Organic Chamomile Lavender Tea, which I found at a great price for $17.82 for 6 boxes. The combination of chamomile and lavender can support ailments from relieving insomnia to a nervous/upset stomach.
Larabar Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip 5 Bar Multipack is available online for $7.03.
barkThins dark chocolate covered pretzels which were absolutely delicious and the only product I’ve had from the box thus far. My family and friends were unapologetically greedy and devoured the one bag I had. For my gluten free friends, this does contain wheat but they do have other flavors available. I’ve been unable to find this particular one for sale online but here are the list of retailers.
I am hoarding my Make-A-Stand organic lemon-aid. In the box was the KICK lemonade, which is ginger-infused lemonade with yerba mate! Make-A-Stand currently gives “5% of all gross revenues to five hand-selected organizations that do leading work in eradicating child slavery: Free the Slaves, Nepal Youth Foundation, UNICEF, GEMS and The International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labor.” Find where it is sold with their store locator.
Archer Farms Fair Trade Tierra Del Sol Organic Whole Bean Coffee can be found at most Target stores and is not sold online.
