In the 80′s, I used to teach exercise teachers and I taught private as well as group classes in health clubs. As such I had to master the standard exercise vocabulary of the time. I found that the exercises themselves were not inherently flawed, but the execution and the depth of understanding was directed toward the development of muscle for esthetics instead of the improvement, restoration or maintenance of function. I removed those limitations and developed a series of exercises based on the prevailing vocabulary at the time, but expressing the deeper concepts. As you view try to “see” the concepts hidden in the form of this simple common exercise. Therein, lies its true value in my opinion. Love to hear your thoughts.’
