Earth Days of Action
Time: 4-6pm
Location: Blind Whino @ 700 Delaware Avenue SW
On April 24, Dreaming Out Loud, Inc. (DOL) will partner with Broccoli City and Toyota Green Initiative for an Earth Day of Action at DOL’s unique urban farm located at Blind Whino (700 Delaware Avenue SW). On this day of action, participants are invited to be a part of building one of the City’s most unique centers of learning and community impact in urban agriculture.
This is an opportunity for residents, students, and community members to participate in a community-based event to support the District’s youth. Through the Aya Youth Cooperative, DOL works with youth, ages 14-21, to become workforce ready, develop entrepreneurial and service skills through urban agriculture and the food system.
On the Day of Action, our staff and youth farmers will guide participants as they assist in:
- Garden and community clean up activities.
- Placing 15 cubic yards of organic compost/topsoil into raised beds and fabric grow bags.
- Building raised bed gardens and trellis network.
- Planting spring and summer crops for the garden space.
- Assist in maintenance of compost bins.
