Thanks to my friends at the Bryant Park Holiday Shops, I got an opportunity to walk around, snag some last minute gifts, and profile some of the great, sustainable shops available. Check back on Wednesday and you can enter to win an opportunity to shop with me at two of my favorite shops! Where is Bryant Park? Located convenient to most of the train lines, you can find the shops (and Citi Pond skating ring) between 40th and 42nd streets on 6th Avenue. Aside from shops filled with wares, there is tons of food from cider, hot chocolate, to a Grit Stand (they even have vegan grits for my dairy-free friends), pretzels, waffles, and more hearty foods.
I do have a biased to Shea Moisture as they are impeccably, well made products that get the job done. Many of the ingredients that are used are indigenous to my father’s country in West Africa. They have a steal of a deal at the shops; Most products are 3 for $25 and their soaps are 3 for $10. You really cannot beat that.
This eco-hipster Brooklyn brand takes reclaimed vinyl records and turns it into functional, sustainable wares! From their signature arm cuffs and bangles to clocks, iphone cases, jewelry and more. For all your music loving folks, this would be a great gift.
Walking into this pop up, you feel warm, cuddly and organic. With 100% organic, woven scarfs, modern, sustainable jewelry (they even have bamboo rings), and jute woven string lights, there are so many options to choose from.
Who doesn’t love a good candle? This gift is unisex and goes a long way. But go the extra step with one of these eco-friendly soy tinned candles. They have an array of scents and other products to light up any room.
I am absolutely in love with Arm Candy as they make cute handbags, clutches, and change purses using all recycled materials, mostly reclaimed and defective candy wrappers. For every purchase, you saved up to 4,000 defective wrappers from a landfill!
These bags look like leather right? Would you believe me if I said they are actually made from reclaimed bike tubes? How awesome is that. With a lifetime warranty, these handmade eco messenger bags and backpacks are worth the purchase.
Jewelry is art in and of itself. Momo Glassworks fuses art, ceramics, and prints to create unique pieces using 100% recycled glass. I am particularly enamored by mosaic posts, which I will be self-gifting to myself, as soon as I decide which set to get.
The Bryant Park shops are open until 8pm tonight and they officially close the shops on January 6th.
